the clumsiness of life

and so i am feeling optimistic. opportunities, a pathway and the skills to accomplish it are popping up in my tarot deck.

i feel, however, that i need a bit more adventure in my life these days - i am in a holding pattern which is not especially interesting to me. my horoscope this week suggested wandering, and adventure:

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): After studying the astrological omens and consulting with an elite panel of 20 village idiots, my team of horoscope experts has determined that at least once in the coming week you would be wise to wander around town with no particular goal, responding with innocent enthusiasm and hungry curiosity to whatever scenarios you happen to stumble upon, pleased to be educated by the random flow of stimuli that come your way. If you don't have the courage or leisure to pull that off, here's the second-best strategy: Go someplace you've never been and do things you've never done. Third-best: Spend an entire day being naked.

uncertain

i met a person at my 10-year reunion. we have a unique and strong connection, but we live 3,000 miles from one another. i am unclear about my desire to pursue or just leave it be. i think the desire we share is relatively balanced, though i fear that it is becoming less balanced (with my interest waning) as distance and distractions intervene.

the midwest

The midwest is very flat, very green, and very spacious. I saw the funniest sign today which electronically alerted drivers to nearby animals. It said "If flashing, animals are present within 1/2 mile." It didn't say what kind of animals lived in the area though.

I'm in Iowa tonight, getting ready to head for Wyoming / Utah tomorrow.

escape from Maryland

I left Maryland today. Headed back to the west coast. I am so glad. I finished cleaning up my apartment and then waited for my landlady to return so that we could do a walk through. It was all sort of anti-climactic. The house was clean and ready to go. She's mailing me my deposit. I said goodbye and got in my car.

I made it to the outskirts of Lima, crossing Western Maryland (thanks J & S for the recommendation to go 68), Northern West Virginia, Southern Pennsylvania, and across the border into Ohio.

Boy, am I ready to climb into bed and watch a little baseball.

oh posting lapses

My dear friends. I've been unvelieveably inattentive to my blog over the last two months. My puppy, Santiago, takes up massive amounts of time. And my love life has not improved. But, my work, school, dog and friends are good. I'm preparing for my 10 year college reunion - which seems a little scary. And for a 3,000 mile drive across country from here back to the golden state. I am most certainly in procrastination mode, as I am thinking about burning CDs as opposed to finishing a paper on immigration.

The Puppy

I feel decidedly uninterested in my calamitous love life, but much more interested in my new puppy. He's a black lab, super cute, and a good new companion.
